Covid 19 campus guidance

  • Health screening each day you come to campus
  • There are numerous stations throughout campus
  • Must have a 99.7°F temperature or less
  • Exhibiting no Covid-19 symptoms
  • Must have color specific wristband
  • A new temperature check will be taken at a new class or entering a new building




  • Must stay within residence hall cohorts
  • Maintain social distancing guidelines
  • Wear face coverings, as advised



Ill Student Procedure

If you think you have been exposed or have Covid-19, please follow the steps below: 

  • Stay home or in your room
  • Contact the Dean of Students, Gary Addington, 719-384-6859
  • Take care of yourself 
  • Contact a testing facility
  • Return home or to your room and self-isolate until you find out your results
  • Remain in contact with the Dean of Students

  • Limited social interaction
  • Maintain at least 6 feet distance at all times
  • No congregating in indoor places on campus
  • Follow room capacity guidelines








Indoor Spaces

  • Must maintain social distancing guidelines
  • Must be at or below 50% occupancy of room capacity
  • Masks must be worn


Testing Centers

Valley Wide Health Systems

  • Appointment required
  • Requirements:
    • Must have symptoms consistent with COVID-19
    • Must meet with a VWHS provider for symptom confirmation prior to testing
  • VWHS Testing Schedule
    • La Junta: Testing Everyday - Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday & Sunday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center

  • No Appointment/No Doctors Order Required
  • Requirements:
    • Must have symptoms consistent with COVID-19
    • Screening Questionnaire
    • Maximum of 2 people per vehicle
    • Limited to first 10 cars each day
  • AVRMC Testing Schedule
    • Tuesdays 0830-0930 starting June 9
    • Wednesdays 0830-0930 starting June 10
  • In front of Nursing Care Center East on 10th Street.  Park in one of the designated spots with testing signs.


  • Must cover nose and mouth
  • Dense enough that nose and mouth cannot be seen
  • Must be worn in public indoor spaces
  • Must be worn outside when there is a chance to be around other people where social distancing cannot happen
  • Exempt if a student has a medical condition that fits exemption criteria
    • See Disability Coordinator



Fitness Center

  •  Required to wash hands before entry
  •  Required to wear a face mask
  •  Must have OJC ID
  •  Must sign in and out of facility
  •  Wipe down equipment after use

Positive Test Procedures

If you have received your results and they are positive: 

  • Inform the Dean of Students
  • Follow his directives
  • Home-isolate from other roommates or family members
  • Wear a facemask 
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes
  • Clean your hands often
  • Avoid sharing household items
  • Clean all "high-touch" surfaces everyday
  • Monitor your symptoms 
  • Follow until you meet requirements to discontinue home isolation

If your test results come back negative: 

  • Contact the Dean of Students for Guidance
  • Continue to social distance 
  • Wear your mask 
  • Disinfect "high-touch" areas
